There are two lists of people, and they answer different questions. A project’s People tab is who can see and comment on that project. The workspace’s Members page, in the sidebar, is who is in your company or studio. A client you invite to one project is on that project’s People tab and nowhere else.
Everyone on a project sees every comment on it, from the plugin and from review links alike. People sign in with GitHub, Google, Microsoft or a code sent by email. There is no password.
Invite someone to a project
Owners and admins invite from the project’s People tab.
Invite by email
Type their address and press Invite. They get an email with a link, and only that address can use it. The link is also shown once under the form, with Copy: if the email could not be sent, the dashboard says so, and you can send the link yourself.
Wait for them to join
Until they accept, the invitation is in the list as Pending: “Invited, waiting for them to sign in”. The link opens the dashboard, where they sign in, see the project and who invited them, and choose Join project or Decline. Once they join, they are a member, as a Reviewer.
Change a role
Pick a new role in the menu on their row. It applies at once.
Revoke cancels a pending invitation. An invitation nobody used expires and shows as Expired; Remove clears it from the list. A link that was used, revoked, expired or sent to another address no longer works: the person sees that and asks for a new one.
Project roles
| Role | What it means |
|---|---|
| Reviewer | Reads every comment, writes their own, replies to anyone. |
| Admin | Manages the project and its people, and gets review digests. |
| Owner | Also invites and removes people, resolves anyone’s comments and deletes the project. |
In the dashboard, owners and admins can invite, change roles and remove people. Only an owner can make someone an owner or change another owner’s role. A project always keeps at least one owner. Your own row shows your role as a tag: someone else changes it. Only owners and admins see the Workflows tab and can reveal the build secret, and only an owner can delete the project.
Remove someone
Remove, on their row, takes them off the project. Owners and admins can remove anyone but themselves; an admin cannot remove an owner.
Review links
People without an account comment through review links, which live on the People tab too, under the list. See Review links.
Workspace members
Members, in the sidebar, lists the people in your workspace and their invitations. Owners and admins invite by email with a role (they join when they sign in to the dashboard with that address), change a member’s role, and remove members. Removing someone from the workspace takes away every project in it; their comments stay, and you can invite them again later.
| Role | What it means |
|---|---|
| Admin | Sees and manages every project, and gets the review digests. |
| Member | Sees the projects they are added to. |
The workspace’s owner is shown with an Owner tag. A member is added to a project from that project’s People tab. See Workspaces & projects for how the two fit together.
